Flag Ceremony
A pack meeting opens and closes with a formal flag ceremony. One den is selected each month to lead this flag ceremony and serve as the color guard. While there are many
different variations, Pack 287 frequently uses the following ceremony, which calls for a Denner and an Assistant Denner to lead and 6 members of the color guard to carry flags:
Opening Flag Ceremony
Denner and Assistant Denner come to the center of the room. The Denner stands behind the US Flag stand; the Assistant Denner stands behind the Pack Flag stand.
Denner: Please stand for the presentation of our nation's and our Pack's flags."
Denner: Color Guard Attention! Scouts Attention! Color Guard POST!
Color Guard advances and stands behind the flag stand where their flag goes.
Denner: Please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. Face the flag. SCOUT SALUTE!
All: I pledge allegiance to the flag...
Denner: TWO
Assistant Denner: Please take your seats. Cub Scouts and Scouters please remain standing and join me in the Cub Scout Promise."
Assistant Denner: Face the flag. Scout Salute!
Cub Scouts & Scouters: I, (my name), promise to do my best, to do my duty…

Denner: Post the Colors
Color Guard places flags in holders starting with the pack flags, then the Texas flag, and last the US flag. All Cub Scouts return to their seats.
