Pack 287 New Scouts & Parents Guide
Welcome to Pack 287! Our pack is made up of about 30 boys and their families in the first through fifth grades, mostly from the Groves area. The cub scout program has a long tradition of providing fun activities for young boys, but it is fun with a purpose.
Cub Scouting is unique because the family joins the program too. Parents help the cub scout along the way. Cub Scouts enriches family activities.
Boys have a different handbook at each grade level. As boys advance using the handbooks, they earn badges and other recognition to wear on their Cub Scout uniform.
Each boy will be a part of a “den” – a small group of boys at the same grade level who meet on a weekly basis. All the dens together make a “pack.” Once a month,
the pack gets together for a pack meeting, a family event which gives boys an opportunity to show off the new skills they have learned, to be recognized for the badges they have earned, and to play some games.
Below is some introductory information to help get started.
